The reconstruction of the Bratislava Ondrej Nepela arena is going according to plan, the setbacks incurred at the begging of the year have been overcome.

According to the Bratislava general investor - Jarmila Tvrda – the climatic conditions in January and February meant concrete laying, construction welding and finishing could not be performed. The work had to be more intensive, two shifts were established. In march a setback was overcome and the director of Ingsteel - Anton Bezák recently stated that the deadlines would be met. According to the plan, work on the arena should be complete by the end of November 2010 and the halls and two story car park next to the main building should be ready by 28th February 2011.

The basic structure of the arena is almost complete and should apparently be ready within two weeks. Around 80 percent of the facade support structure facing Trnavska street and the Tehelna baths as well as 30 percent of the side facing Odbojarov should be completed soon. The front of the arena steps are complete and one of the entrance escalators has been tested successfully. The cross beams are being mounted, the air conditioning and ice rink are being worked on, the electrical system and windows are being installed. In the training hall the foundations have been laid, the ceiling above the second underground level and almost half of the ceilings above the first underground level are finished. The pillars and the underground garage walls are being cemented, within two weeks the training hall can be assembled. The water pump is still active, pumping out 40 litres of water per second.

The city of Bratislava has sent the first invoice to the Ministry of education for the reconstruction of the Ondrej Nepela arena in Bratislava. At the end of April the Capital city sent an invoice for the first quarter of this year. The reconstruction work for the period between January and March totalled 3.5 million Euros. On Tuesday May 4th a supplementary 5.4 million Euro invoice was sent to the Ministry of Education as the guarantor. The ministry now has a certain period in which to check the individual invoice items. If and when the monitoring commission is to pay a visit to the building site was not stated, as an invitation has not yet been received. “They have been invited to all the monitoring days, but have not attended them," stated Tvrdá. Since the beginning of the reconstruction until the end of April 30.4 million Euros have been invested. The costs were at first covered by the city, and are to be taken over by the state this year. The arena reconstruction for the hockey championship commenced on April 29th 2009.
