Volunteers start registering themselves in the specialised system
The 2011 IIHF World Championship (29.4. - 15.5.2011) Organizing Committee has sent out an info-instruction email to all 2011 preliminarily registered volunteers 200 days before the tournament commences.
From the over two thousand initial registrations we will select around 700 of the best candidates, who will have the opportunity to get up close to the championship preparations in both Bratislava and Košice, and what’s more – also become an inseparable part of it. “It’s because of kind, willing and competent volunteers that events of the significance of the 2011 IIHF World Championship can become unforgettable for visitors and participants from all around the world”. Stated Richard Magdolen, the championship’s volunteer manager.
The next step for the volunteers is to take place during the October registration in the specialised on-line system – which further specifies their abilities and qualifications for volunteer work. Equally – volunteers are to make themselves familiar with the criteria to be met. Amongst other things, the volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, voluntary experience is an advantage, as are foreign language skills. For potential participants, one point of importance is that all activities are to performed remuneration free – including travel and accommodation expenses. Two more selection rounds await candidates before January 2011, by when the final line up of volunteers will be set. After registering themselves in written form, the candidates undergo interviews.
Volunteers will be officially accredited at the 2011 IIHF World Championship. Rewards include caps, polo shirts and jackets from the 2011 IIHF World Championship sponsor. Volunteers will also be provided with warm food and drinks. After the conclusion of the championship, volunteers also receive volunteer certificates.
