Volunteer recruitment set to end in June. Over 1800 candidates registered.
Volunteers form an inseparable part of all great sporting events around the world. It is thanks to them that the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Bratislava and Košice has the potential to become a successful and unforgettable event.
Volunteer recruitment for people interested in participating in the organization of the championship is drawing to a close. “We have been very pleasantly surprised. There is great interest in being a part of the 2011 IIHF World Championship and contributing as a volunteer. We currently have around 1800 people enlisted – most of the volunteers coming from Slovakia, with others coming from the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Austria, Finland and Canada.” stated Zuzana Chrenková, Head of Infrastructure and Logistics.
Potential volunteers can still apply up until the end of June via the form on the official website of the tournament (http://2011.iihfworlds.com) or of the Slovak federation website (www.szlh.sk). The last day for registration is 30th June 2010.
Volunteers should be motivated, friendly and accommodating. In addition, all applicants must be at least 18 years of age, of good moral character and be able to get by in foreign languages (English in particular). Experience with voluntary work is welcome. “We are looking for a total of 700 volunteers. In Bratislava we are going to need about 400 and about 300 in Košice.” added Chrenková.
The voluntary program offers the opportunity to become a significant part of this unique event - the 2011 IIHF World Championship, Slovakia.
