The Swiss cult rock band "Krokus" has fathered the official 2009 IIHF World Championship song. "Live for the action" is the first song in over 20 years that Krokus has produced in its original formation. Krokus will perform the song live on April 24 in Berne to kick-off the opening game – but a preview is already available today on a numbered-edition World Championship compilation CD.
With sales of over a million sound recordings in its home country alone, Krokus is the most successful band in the history of Swiss Rock. Over 13 million fans around the world have bought a Krokus album. The band demonstrated its unbroken popularity last year on August 2 when 10,000 euphoric fans thronged to Berne's Stade De Suisse to hear Krokus at a triumphant reunion concert. Ever since, the Swiss rockers have been planning their comeback.
Organizing Committee head Gian Gilli is himself a great fan of Krokus and their official World Championship song: "The cult band really knows how to rock! It's the perfect match for ice hockey. Their announced comeback generated a big buzz and their catchy song, "Live for the action" is set to sweep across Switzerland."
All those impatient for a preview can purchase the song exclusively from the 2009 IIHF World Championship Organizing Committee. The World Championship song is included on a numbered compilation CD that includes, apart from Krokus, a further eight bands that were invited to compose their own World Championship songs:
