BERNE – Nine teams have already filled their rosters, including the two additional players who can be added following the group stage that ended yesterday.

Austria (Goalie Bernhard Starkbaum, Villach; defenceman Mario Altmann, Vienna; forward Harald Ofner, Innsbruck), France (defenceman Gary Leveque, Briançon; forward Cyril Papa, Villard-de-Lens), Germany (defenceman Nicolai Goc, Hanover; forward Andre Rankel, Berlin), Hungary (forwards Daniel Koger, Salzburg; Gergo Nagy, Alba Volan) and Slovakia (defenceman Ivan Svarny, Litvinov; forward Michal Macho, MHC Martin) have filled their rosters for the remainder of the tournament with players who were already practising with their respective teams. They have now 22 skaters and 3 goalies apiece.

Belarus added forward Mikhail Stefanovich of the Canadian junior team Quebec Remparts (QMJHL) and has one roster spot left for another skater.

Canada has room for three more skaters, and announced to add defencemen Marc-Edouard Vlasic (San Jose Sharks) and Braydon Coburn (Philadelphia Flyers), and forward Travis Zajac (New Jersey Devils).

The Czech Republic added goalkeeper Lukas Mensator (Karlovy Vary). The Czechs can still add two more skaters.

Latvia filled its roster by adding defenceman Oskars Bartulis of the AHL’s Philadelphia Phantoms and forward Aleksejs Sirokovs of the KHL’s Dinamo Riga.

Russia added goalkeeper Vasili Koshechkin (Lada Togliatti), defenceman Konstantin Korneyev (CSKA Moscow) and forward Sergei Mozyakin (Atlant Mytischi) to the roster. One spot for a skater is open, and all Russian fans will naturally be watching the performance of Alexander Ovechkin’s Washington Capitals in this regard.

Switzerland registered defenceman Yannick Weber (Montreal/Hamilton) and forward Thibaut Monnet (ZSC Lions), and can register one more goalie. Daniel Manzato (Albany, AHL) is with the team while Jonas Hiller plays goal for Anaheim in the second round of the NHL playoffs.

Sweden registered defenceman Carl Gunnarsson (Linköping) and has space for one more skater. This spot will be used for New Jersey defenceman Johnny Oduya.

Team USA can still register one goalie and two skaters. One of them will be Joe Pavelski of the San Jose Sharks, who’s joining the Americans in Berne.

The following teams have not announced their two additional skaters for the second stage yet: Denmark, Finland and Norway. All of them can add two skaters but no more goalies.

Finland announced to add winger Ville Vahalahti (TPS Turku) while Lauri Korpikoski (New York Rangers) can’t join due to an injury.
