BRONDBY, Denmark – The Danish Ice Hockey Association announced that the contract with national team head coach Mike Sirant will be terminated on August 31.

“Sirant is a hard-working coach and helped us much to establish our national team at the World Championships,” president Henrik Bach Nielsen said.

The Danes, focused on the Olympic qualifier tournament in February 2009 and the 2009 IIHF World Championship, are looking for a new coach. Sirant led the team at the 2007 and 2008 World Championships. Last year’s tenth-place finish was the biggest success ever of a Danish national team. This year, the Danes were 12th.
