"Urmel auf dem Eis" ™ is the official mascot of the 2010 IIHF World Championship. The Urmel, created by children's book author Max Kruse, is still well known in the German-speaking regions as character from the “Augsburger Puppenkiste”.
His previous engagement as the mascot of the DEB and the German national ice hockey team predestines Urmel to slip into the role of the World Championship mascot. As a figure of identification for young and old, it will travel across the country before and during the WC with the honorable number "10" on his shirt. Urmels mission is to put the people into World Championship mood.
In the media, Urmel also appears in four on-ice medleys: as center, as referee, as leftwing and of course as a goalie. For the execution the OC saved the exclusive license rights of the sympathetic mini dino by Bavaria Sonor, a subsidiary of Bavaria Film GmbH.
