The last player additions for Preliminary Round play were done on Thursday.

Slovakia filled its roster by adding a third goalie, Peter Hamerlik of Czech club Ocelari Trinec, and defenceman Peter Frühauf of HC 05 Banska Bystrica. Both can play tonight against Kazakhstan.

Sweden registered its Detroit Red Wings reinforcement, Jonathan Ericsson, as well as Fredrik Pettersson (Frölunda Gothenburg), who’s already been practising with the team.

Sweden plays the Czech Republic for first place in Group C tonight.

Norway added Ole-Kristian Tollefsen of the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins after the defencemen sat out a three-game suspension. Tollefsen was suspended after a hit to the head of Slovakia’s Lubos Bartecko at the Olympic Winter Games.

Most teams have a full roster containing 20 skaters and three goalies at the end of the Preliminary Round, and can add two additional players for the second stage of the tournament that begins on Friday.

Additionally, Canada, the Czech Republic, France and the United States can still name their third goalie, while Russia keeps one additional spot open for a skater.

Hockey Canada announced that they will register forward Jordan Eberle as one of two additional players. Edmonton’s first-round draft choice in 2008 split the season between his junior team, the WHL’s Regina Pats (57 games, 50 goals, 56 assists), and the AHL’s Springfield Falcons (11 games, 6 goals, 8 assists).

Eberle, who turns 20 on Saturday, practised with Team Canada as an alternate player. He was voted Best Forward and Most Valuable Player in the last World Junior Championship.
