COLOGNE – The tournaments of the 2011 IIHF World Championship program were assigned on Saturday at the IIHF’s Annual Congress. 27 tournaments are planned next year.

While the venues for the 2011 IIHF World Championship (Bratislava and Kosice, Slovakia) and the 2011 IIHF World U20 Championship (Buffalo and Niagara Falls, United States) were already known, all other tournaments were assigned today.

The next World Women’s Championship will take place in Zurich and Winterthur, Switzerland in April 2011. The venues will be Hallenstadion and Kunsteisbahn Oerlikon in Zurich, and Eishalle Deutweg in Winterthur.

Germany was chosen as the host for the World U18 Championship while Sweden will host the World Women’s U18 Championship. The cities will be announced soon.
