CALGARY/EDMONTON – Russia and Switzerland are currently both missing one of their top forwards in Mikhail Grigorenko and Sven Bärtschi respectively.
Grigorenko left Thursday’s game against Latvia with what looked like a lower-leg injury. Luckily it doesn’t seem to be as bad as it looked initially. His ankle was neither broken nor seriously damaged.
Grigorenko didn’t practise today and is under treatment. But the Russians hope he will be back in game action soon.
Switzerland’s Bärtschi, a 2011 first-round pick of the NHL’s Calgary Flames, left the ice against Sweden with concussion-like symptoms. He is listed as day-to-day, but will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the Preliminary Round. |
