CALGARY – Russian defenceman Ildar Isangulov and Canadian forward Boone Jenner have both received a one-game supplementary suspension for separate incidents in Tuesday’s World Junior semi-final between the teams.

This means that Isangulov will miss the gold medal game versus Sweden, while Jenner will miss the bronze medal game versus Finland, both on Thursday.

After a review request from the Championship Chairman, the Disciplinary Panel made a comprehensive video review of the incidents from Tuesday’s Canada-Russia semi-final, as well as reviewing both an oral report and a written report from the game officials.

The incidents occurred at 15:44 of the second period. Isangulov committed the initial foul on the play, a check to the head and neck area of Jenner. Isangulov was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing. Upon video review, the Disciplinary Panel determined that Isangulov’s action was actually a shoulder hit to the head-and-neck area.

In an ensuing incident, with the play whistled down, Jenner was assessed a spearing and game misconduct penalty for a spearing motion with the blade of his stick to the mid-section of Russian player Yevgeni Kuznetsov.
