EDMONTON – Canadian forward Devante Smith-Pelly left the ice in the 8-1 victory against Finland with a broken foot.

Smith-Pelly suffered the injury when blocking a shot in the second period. Hockey Canada announced that the player has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament.

The Anaheim Ducks forward was one of two NHL players on the Canadian roster. He can’t be replaced because Canada has already registered the maximum of 20 skaters.
