With 99 days to go until the start of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the Swedish organizing committee wants to get the Swedish youth hockey community involved with an exclusive offer.

On 3rd May Sweden plays its opening game at the Stockholm Globe Arena. With only 99 days to go the Swedish organization has engaged in a cooperation together with local ice hockey youth teams. The teams will sell tickets at a reduced price and receive part of the income for the team.

”This involvement by the ice hockey community of Sweden is essential to create a full Globe and a festival feeling in May. The fact that we also give the teams a possibility to earn some money makes the long-term legacy of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship on home ice much larger,” says Tony Wiréhn, General Secretary of the Swedish organizing committee.

”We have already sold 400 tickets which gives 18,000 kronor to the team. This money gives us the possibility to further educate all the players and be able to keep the depth in the team without asking the parents to pay more then they already do,” says Magnus Wikström, team manager for Team 02, IFK Österåker Vikings Hockey. ”We have also seen that selling in our community increases the knowledge and interest of the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. It is a win-win concept for all.”

As a start of the countdown towards the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship, the first 1,000 who buy tickets to Sweden-Denmark will also receive tickets to the Czech Republic-Norway match on 14th May.

The the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is played in Stockholm and Helsinki 3-19 of May.
