“Ticket sales in Helsinki are going well. Naturally our local fans have been most active and for four out of the seven Finnish games in the preliminary round only some scattered seats remain,” says Finnish General Secretary Matti Nurminen. In other words, the home team games against Slovakia, USA, Russia and Austria are almost fully booked with a month and a half to go before the puck drops on May 3rd. However, in order to boost the ticket sales for other games and to ensure the atmosphere is top-notch in each and every game, the Finnish organization has now launched a club sales campaign for local sports clubs and teams.

“The clubs and teams can promote the tickets and part of the income is directed to their use,” says Nurminen. “We want to involve the whole sports community and therefore the campaign is meant to all the clubs, regardless of the sport.” “There is a possibility to leave long-term legacy to the Finnish sports community. We are happy if we get new spectators to watch ice hockey at the Arena and hopefully other sports take advantage of our initiative in their future events,” Nurminen sums up.
