All stakeholders involved with broadcast from the event hope to repeat the success of the 2012 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. Last year, the games were broadcast in over 110 countries, a new record for an IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. With fans eagerly looking forward to the 2013 edition, the IIHF expects that around 650 million total viewers worldwide will be tuning in to watch the games from home. From Monday to Wednesday the IIHF, together with its marketing partner Infront Sports & Media, arranged the annual broadcaster meeting where discussions about camera/commentator positions and studio positions took place. A total of 40 people participated in a series of meetings and tours in Stockholm and Helsinki. “We are very pleased with the meeting we had with the broadcast companies,” said Dr Joachim Herzer, the broadcast manager for Infront. “The broadcasters are ready and committed to deliver yet another great IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships experience.” Approximately 32,000 metres of cables will be laid to every camera in the arenas and to all the outside broadcasting trucks that will be used by the broadcast companies during the tournament. Close to 550 accredited TV reporters and broadcast technicians will be working on the games from each of the venues.
