The Swedish organizing committee has presented a new ambassador – Robert Wells. A versatile artist and composer, Wells has written music for sports events such as the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008, the figure skating world championship and IIHF 2002 Ice hockey World Championship.

“I grew up in Huvudsta, Solna, where there is a big interest for ice hockey,” says Wells. “I used to be at Hovet when I didn´t practice playing the piano and I watched ice hockey as early as 1970 when Sven Tumba did his spectacular entrance in the opening of the championship.”

As part of his ambassador duties Wells has composed an overture especially for the IIHF 2013 that will be used from now onwards.

“Robert is a very appreciated and professional artist with a genuine ice hockey interest. It is fun that Robert wants to be a part of our organization and work with the 2013 WM during winter and spring,” says Tony Wiréhn, general secretary for the Swedish org.

“We now have a team of ambassadors that is extremely interesting and that would be able to help making the Stockholm Globe Arena becoming the festival area we want it to be.”
