January 5 - 12 – Calgary, Canada

The IIHF will organize the first-ever World Women's U18 Championship in Alberta. Six of the participating eight nations have already qualified for this new IIHF World Women Championship in February 2007 at three IIHF Women's U18 Invitational Tournaments in the Czech Republic, Finland and Germany. This is an important step in the development of women's ice hockey, and serves as an excellent event to emphasize the 100 Year celebrations.Qualified Nations: CAN, USA, SWE, FIN, GER, SUI, RUS, CZE

September 2008 – Europe

In fall 2008, the International Ice Hockey Federation in co-operation with the NHL will organise the first Victoria Cup. This tournament is a milestone for international ice hockey. This is the first competition where a European club champion will compete against an NHL challenger in a tournament for an anually awarded trophy.

The trophy is named after the Victoria Skating Rink in Montreal. This event wants to commemorate the birthplace of modern ice hockey and will be organised every year in autumn thereafter.

The European Champions Cup will be replaced with the new Champions Hockey League. This will consist of a series of stages among the top European club teams beginning in 2008 and will be the basis for determining which teams will be eligible to compete in the Victoria Cup Event. The CHL is modelled after soccer's successful UEFA Champions League.

World Championship, May 2008 – Halifax and Quebec, Canada

The IIHF is creating two world class tournaments for Pee Wee AAA and Bantam AAA teams from all around the world. Hockey Canada in partnership with the IIHF and its member associations is hosting for the first time a World Youth Hockey Tournament in both Quebec City and Halifax. Teams will have the option of attending either the Halifax or Quebec City tournament which will take place from May 1 to 4, 2008. This will not only be a first class event, but it will be in conjunction with the 100 Year Anniversary of the IIHF, as well as being held during the IIHF World Championship. Hockey Canada is proud to act as the host of the Men's World Championship as well as the inaugural IIHF World Youth Hockey Tournament.

Tournament Package

• 1 exhibition game prior or after the tournament.
• Minimum of 3 tournament games (60% of the teams will pass to quarter-final).
• Every team (players and coaches) will receive tickets for two IIHF World Championship games (At least 1 game of your local association is guaranteed).
• A unique chance to play against teams from all around the world.

World Men's Championships, May 2008 – Halifax and Quebec, Canada

Hockey Canada is created two world class tournaments for all registered adult recreational players. With the partnership of the IIHF and other national associations, Hockey Canada is hosting for the first time a world adult recreation challenge in both Quebec City and Halifax.

Teams will have either the option of attending either the Halifax tournament, which takes place from May 5 to 11 or the Quebec City event, which takes place from May 8 to 11, 2008.

Not only will this be a first class event, it will be in conjunction with the 100 Year Anniversary of the IIHF, as well as being the first time ever the Hockey Canada will be hosting the IIHF World Men’s Championship.

Because the IIHF is based in Zurich and Switzerland is an IIHF founding member, it is important for the IIHF to involve Switzerland in the 100-year-celebrations.

As a result, a temporary ice rink (28 x 14 metres) will be constructed in the garden of the IIHF headquarters in Zurich in November 2007. It will be operated for three months from December 2007 through February 2008 and will be accessible to the public and host various events.

Events will be organized for all people that share a passion for ice hockey – the major goal is to involve, all age groups, all levels of proficiency, people from all backgrounds and both genders. Everybody is encouraged to come and play ice hockey at the IIHF Ice Rink.
