Third Period

20:00 It's over. Russia's quest for golden hat trick ends.

19:26  35.3 seconds left  Datsyuk gets one timer to make it 2-1

18:55  65 seconds left. Faceoff in Czech end.

18:27  Vokoun says not in my back yard, keeps Russians at bay with save in close off Malkin, who gets a penalty.

18:00 Rolinek now in the box as well. Six skaters on three for Russia. Huge moment.

17:24  Timeout Russia. Varlamov still on the bench, faceoff in Czech end. Rozsival in the penalty box.

17:15 Varlamov on the bench early.

16:54 Russia at full strength but desperately running out of time.

14:50 Penalty almost over, two-goal lead for the Czechs, five minutes to gold. Kozlov takes a penalty. Russians losing their grip on gold.

13:30  Czechs just killing the clock, not really trying to score on their power play.

9:40  Koukal nailed by Tereshchenko through centre ice. No penalty, but moments later tempers flare and a hit on Jagr results in a penalty to Emelin. He gets a five-minute major for clipping and game misconduct. The Russians are imploding here.

8:41  Russians confused and frustrated. Now they can't establish possession in the Czech end.

7:48 Ovechkin has a great chance coming down the right wing, but he tried to go between Vokoun's pads and the goalie squeezed the opening just in time. Ovi looks to the rafters.

5:45  The Russians look like a beaten team. They try those solo dashes, a sure sign they've lost their "team" mojo for now.

1:52  Slow start by the Russians. Czechs look to be in control now, knowing they have a two-goal cushion and 18 minutes to gold.

Second Period

0:00  Starting in four minutes--let's see if the Russians are deflated by the non-goal at the end of the first or if they come out and pick up where they left off. Czechs can't win this game 1-0. They have to bring more offense to their game or they'll lose. Russia will start with a power play carried over from the first.

0:45  Petr Koukal great chance short-handed, just shoots wide.

4:24  Czechs keep Russians at bay. Russians skate easily into the Czech end, but still can't make that final pass or shot to tie the game.

6:15  Czechs are hoping to score on the counter attack. They back into their own end every time Russia has the puck. They bend but don't break. They are waiting for that terrible turnover and then hope to capitalize.

8:39  Malkin from behind the net to Kovalchuk at the side of the crease. Vokoun hugs the post and makes a nice save.

10:05  First Czech power play as Klepis high-sticked by Alexei Tereshchenko.

12:06 Penalty over. Good possession by Czechs but only one decent scoring chance, by Jagr, who hit Varlamov in the logo from the top of the crease.

14:35  Russians are the better skaters and puck-handlers, but for every cute move the Czechs have an impressive answer. Great tactical battle.

18:13  Czechs score--but was it kicked? Video review.

18:13 GOAL--Tomas Rolinek from Rachunek, after a huge turnover inside the Czech line when Ovechkin and Fedorov collided hard. Rolinek might have kicked it in, but the video review judge calls it legal. Huge 2-0 lead now.

20:00 One period left in the tournament. Or maybe 20 minutes of overtime still? Plus a shootout? We'll find out soon.

First Period

0:20  Jakub Klepis shocked the Russians with a goal 20 seconds after the start of the game. Jaromir Jagr made a nice pass from behind the Russian goal and the Russians were caught looking the wrong way.

3:40  Sergei Fedorov hit the post with Vokoun down and out.

10:30  Since the goal the Russians have dominated, but they're not finishing around the Czech goal.

11:57  First power play, for Russia--Caslava off for tripping.

13:30  Czechs have a two-on-one short-handed but can't cash in.

15:16  Penalty over and Czechs have their first decent pressure in Russia's end for a while.

16:01  Another Czech penalty, this in the offensive end, to Jiri Novotny. Faceoff back down in Czech end.

18:13  Another successful penalty kill from the Czechs, who are playing great inside their own blueline.

19:14  Great rush by Afinogenov, but Vokoun makes the save off a backhand.

19:30  Blatak gets two minutes for delay of game, third Czech penalty in the period. Russia scores at the horn--video review.

20:00 NO GOAL--time had expired!
