COLOGNE – The accredited media has voted the tournament All-Star Team in Cologne. Germany’s goalkeeper Dennis Endras took all available prizes as he was voted to media’s all-star team, and tournament Most Valuable Player, and elected Best Goalkeeper by the directorate.
It is the first time ever a German player was selected by the directorate in the World Championships and the first time since 1987 (Udo Kiessling, Gerd Truntschka) a German player made it to the All-Star Team.
Finland’s Petteri Nummelin was voted into the All-Star Team for the fifth time. His previous appearances were 2000, 2001, 2005, and 2007.
Germany had two players on the team as Christian Ehrhoff was the other defenceman.
Russia’s two NHL superstars Pavel Datsyuk and Evgeni Malkin, and Sweden’s Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson are the All-Star forwards.
Endras, Nummelin, and Datsyuk were directorate’s choices for best goalkeeper, best defenceman, and best forward, respectively.
