The 2012 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia, the first-ever IIHF event ever hosted by India, wrapped up on the weekend with United Arab Emirates crowned as champions. Two more events for juniors come up in Abu Dhabi and Seoul. Here's a look at where ice hockey in Asia has come from, and where it may be headed.

Thailand and the United Arab Emirates met on Day One of this year's championship in what turned out to be one of the best games of the tournament - they'll do it again in the final. It's Thailand v UAE for the 2012 Challenge Cup of Asia championship. IIHF.com takes a look at how both teams got there.

It's not the first place you think of when you think of "ice" or "hockey" - but the United Arab Emirates is coming along quite nicely in developing both players and facilities. The UAE has another strong team at this year's IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia, and is looking for another medal to go along with one gold and two silver showings in the annual competition. Paul Romanuk reports.

The IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia is the first time India has played host to a hockey tournament of this size. During a week when India picked up its' first win, Indian hockey officials are looking to the future and trying to put together a plan to further develop the game in one of the world's most populous nations. In the second of a two-part report, IIHF.com speaks with the General Secretary of the Ice Hockey Association of India about where it expects to go in the next few years. Paul Romanuk reports.

A very old civilisation, but new in the ice hockey world, India has come a long way in the last few years. The game's roots in India come from the mountainous regions in the North, but hopes are that the game can be developed in other parts of the country. In the first of this two-part report, IIHF.com talks to an Indian ice hockey historian about where the game has its' origins; in the second part we discuss where hockey is headed in one of the world's most populous countries. Paul Romanuk reports.

The final score was 5-1 in the 13th international game for the country. The IIHF had a camera on the bench and on the ice to capture the historic moment.

Day Three of the 2012 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia is in the books. Here are the final scores and post game reaction from players and coaches involved in all three games.

Ice hockey has been around for less than twenty years in Malaysia; so, like many of the nations at this week's IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia, they are more concerned about growing the game than winning titles. Malaysia joined the IIHF in 2006 and they've made some great strides since then. IIHF.com talked to players and officials about how far the game has come in that country and how far it may go.

Final scores from Day Two of the 2012 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia: Kuwait 12 Chinese Taipei 2, Malaysia 8 Macau 1. Here are some post game comments from players and coaches.

Making artificial ice for hockey is always a tricky business. It's even more of an art when you have to do it in a climate that's more conducive to sun tanning than ice hockey. Ice master Vyacheslav Kosenok made the journey from New York City to India for the 2012 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia to make sure the ice would be as up to the challenge as the players.

Day one of the 2012 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia is pin the books. In day one action, United Arab Emirates defeated Thailand 4-3 and Macau defeated India 5-3. This report contains post game comments from players from all four teams.
