The 2012 Ice Hockey World Championships site visits continued in Helsinki last week as Team Canada’s General Manager Scott Salmond revisited Hartwall Arena.
Scott Salmond, who has long served as Team Canada’s GM was satisfied of what he saw and how the tournament in Helsinki is shaping up.
"Everything looks good. We were here in the 2003 World Championship and have a lot of good memories since we won the gold. Winning the championship is our objective and plan in every tournament, including Helsinki next year."
What do you focus on during these site visits?
"The hotel, the arena and the dressing rooms. Those are always our main focuses because they are also things we can influence. The facilities and services are also extremely important to the team."
What do you think of the shared games concept?
"I think it is a great concept and Finland and Sweden are both great hockey countries. We are staying in Finland for the whole tournament, which is great if and when we reach the playoff stage."
Which team will win the Stanley Cup this season?
"The Vancouver Canucks, since I’m from Vancouver."
