HELSINKI – The Champions Hockey League playoff draw was conducted today in the Finnish capital of Helsinki. The players begin in less than three weeks with the home-and-away 1/8-finals.
The draw included the 16 teams that remain in the competition following the conclusion of the group state. In the draw each group winner from the first pot got a team that finished second in the groups as opponent.
The home-and-away 1/8-finals will begin on 31st October and 1st November at the venue of the second-ranked team (upon arena availability) and the return games will be played on 7th November.
The draw produces following pairings:

EV Zug (SUI) vs Kometa Brno (CZE)
Adler Mannheim (GER) vs Brynas Gavle (SWE)
Malmo Redhawks (SWE) vs Ocelari Trinec (CZE)
Vaxjo Lakers (SWE) vs Red Bull Salzburg (AUT)
Red Bull Munich (GER) vs SC Bern (SUI)
Nottingham Panthers (GBR) vs ZSC Lions Zurich (SUI)
Frolunda Gothenburg (SWE) vs Bili Tygri Liberec (CZE)
The winners advance to the quarterfinals that will be played on 5/6 December and 12 December. The semi-finals will be played on 9/10 & 16/17 January and the one-game final on 6th February.
