COPENHAGEN – IIHF Council-member Henrik Bach Nielsen on Saturday was confirmed as President of the Danish Ice Hockey Federation (DIU) for a third consecutive term during the federation's recent general assembly.

Bach Nielsen had no opposition and was confirmed for a new 4-year term with unanimous acclamation.

He joined the IIHF Council in 2012 and during the 2016 congress in Moscow was re-elected to serve on that body.

Bach Nielsen will serve a new term until 2021 that includes the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship that will be hosted in Copenhagen & Herning; an event that will be the biggest sports event ever hosted in Denmark.

During Bach Nielsen’s tenure the Danish national team has consecutively played in the top division since 2003 and reached the quarter-finals in both 2010 and 2016. At the same time the U20 team has recorded 3 consecutive quarter final runs, with the latest in 2017 giving the team a record high 5th place finish.
