Crocus in the spring – the flower and now its namesake as well. Indeed, the cult band Krokus has just completed production of the World Championship song, "Live for the action" destined to make the 2009 IIHF World Championship really rock. The song is the first in over 20 years to feature Krokus in its original formation – comprising vocalist Marc Storace, bassist and producer Chris von Rohr, guitarist Fernando Von Arb, drummer Freddy Steady and guitarist Mark Kohler.
With sales of over a million sound recordings in its home country alone, Krokus is the most successful band in the history of Swiss Rock. Over 13 million fans around the world have bought a Krokus album. The band demonstrated its unbroken popularity last year on August 2 when 10,000 euphoric fans thronged to Berne's Stade De Suisse to hear Krokus at a triumphant reunion concert. Ever since, the Swiss rockers have been planning their comeback.
Organizing Committee head Gian Gilli is himself a great fan of Krokus and their official World Championship song: "The cult band really knows how to rock! It's the perfect match for ice hockey. Their announced comeback generated a big buzz and their catchy song, "Live for the action" is set to sweep across Switzerland."
All those impatient for a preview can now purchase the song exclusively from the 2009 IIHF World Championship Organizing Committee. The World Championship song is included on a numbered compilation CD that includes, apart from Krokus, a further eight bands that were invited to compose their own World Championship songs:
- Mophisto (Deutschland)
Titel: Don’t you ever give up
- NEWLAND & friends (Schweiz)
Title: Set the ice on fire
- Sinplus (Schweiz)
Title: Shoot
The compilation CD costs 19 Swiss Francs. To order, visit the official webshop of the 2009 IIHF World Championship.
