BERNE – After an intense and colorful game, both head coaches had something positive and negative to take home with them. Of course, Tom Renney also had the Victoria Cup. “We had our hands full with a very good hockey team. Metallurg Magnitogorsk is a well-coached team. They understand well how to play on that surface. We needed to stay calm and composed and to play harder, to keep our feet moving to provoke penalties,” Renney said at the post-game press conference.   The Metallurg Magnitogorsk coach, Valeri Belousov, congratulated the Rangers, but thought his team’s effort was undermined by penalties. “We had a very good start but in the second and third period we had too many penalties. The Rangers showed in their game against SC Bern how good their powerplay is,” he said. “We didn’t actually lose the game, we lost a part of it. A big mistake by one of our defencemen decided the game. Otherwise, we might have had a shootout, which is unpredictable,” he added.
