MAGNITOGORSK, Russia – Defending European club champion Metallurg Magnitogorsk acquired forward Stanislav Chistov from Avangard Omsk for a second-round pick in the 2009 KHL draft.

The 25-year-old won gold at 2002 IIHF World U20 Championship and was named a media all-star. He was the fifth-overall NHL draft pick in 2001, going to Anaheim and played 217 games for Anaheim and Boston, scoring 23 goals and 44 assists.

The Chelyabinsk native returned to Russia in 2005-2006 and finished in third place with Metallurg Magnitogorsk. In 58 games he notched 15 points and 26 assists. After one more NHL season, he came back to Russia again but played only nine games with Salavat Yulayev Ufa in the 2007-2008 season.

Metallurg Magnitogorsk will play in the 2008-2009 Champions Hockey League and the 2008 Victoria Cup against the New York Rangers.
