GRENOBLE, France – After a year in Rouen, the Coupe Magnus trophy given to the French champion went back to Grenoble.

Grenoble Brûleurs de Loups finished the season with triple success after winning the French Cup and the League Cup on top of the championship.

Grenoble finished the regular season in second place, four points behind Briançon. After beating Strasbourg (3-1) and Rouen (3-0) in the two first playoff series, it came to the final against Briançon.

Briançon started with a 5-2 victory on home ice but lost 3-0 the following day before the series went to Grenoble. After a 3-1 victory in game three, Grenoble had it in their hands to win the Ligue Magnus and they did it with a 5-1 score in front of a sell-out crowd of 3,500 and with a hat trick from Viktor Wallin.

The Swedish defenceman broke the neck of the “red devils” with his two power-play goals at 21:49 and 24:11 to make it 3-0.

For Briançon it is the second straight loss in the final series, while it was the sixth title for Gernoble and its first since 2007. Now Grenoble will look forward to the Champions Hockey League Qualification.
