Hong Kong-Mongolia (April 2)

Hong Kong 2 - Mongolia 1

In the last game of the preliminary round both teams were looking to get their first win in the tournament and setting things straight with regards to 3rd and 4th position in Group A. Hong Kong opened up the score at 12:42 followed by a top corner wrist shot three minutes later to make it 2-0 after the first period. In the second period the game flowed from one end to another without remarkable scoring opportunities at either end until Mongolia got its first marker with a deflection from the defenders stick. In the next shift, Hong Kong got a breakaway with all Mongolian players crashing the net, but the game remained at 2-1 after two periods. In the third period, Mongolia used whatever energy it had left trying to take the game away from Hong Kong, but despite a 5-on-3 power play for two minutes, the Mongolians were not able to make it happen leaving the third period scoreless.
