United Arab Emirates-Malaysia (April 3)

United Arab Emirates 4 - Malaysia 1

Cautiousness was the name of the game in the first period between the United Arab Emirates and Malaysia, a match to decide the other finalist against the home team Chinese Taipei. Apart from changed created on power plays there were not many scoring chances for either team to get onto the scoreboard until Malaysia found a way to get the puck past the Emirates goalie with less than two minutes remaining in the first period. With two consecutive power play opportunities in the beginning of the second period, the United Arab Emirates was able to take advantage of the situation scoring the equalizer with a wrist shot from the slot at 23:18. After allowing a great scoring opportunity for Malaysia, the Emirates got back with their second goal in the next shift to take the lead at 27:14 and to finish the second period with a 2-1 score. In the third period, it took only one minute and 20 seconds for the Emirates to get their third goal of the evening with a top corner wrist shot from the face-off circle. After that all colours seemed to be red with the Emirates mostly controlling the game and making it 4-1 at 46:56 en route to the final against Chinese Taipei on Sunday. In the bronze medal game Malaysia gets another chance against Thailand after being defeated in the preliminary round.
