DPR Korea 3 – China II 0
It was either DPR Korea or China II to take home the bronze medals in the tournament. Based on their previous encounter, DPR Korea looked to be a favourite with China II having the potential to challenge their opponent.
At 7:54 DPR Korea took a step close towards the medals as Ri Sol Gyong used a power play and broke though the middle. The North Koreans outshot their opponent in the period 13-10, but Ri’s goal remained as the only one after 20 minutes of play.
The second period started with power-play opportunities at both end and one of those was used by DPR Korea with Ryu Hyon Mi getting the puck behind Chinese goalkeeper Jia Dandan. It was Ryu again a minute later, this time short-handed, who brought the puck past the goalie to make it 3-0. The North Koreans stayed in control for the remaining of the period, but were denied in their efforts to extend the lead.
In third period, China II started strong and showed ambitions to turn the game. It was, however, not the way DPR Korea wanted to finish the tournament as the team mostly controlled events in the period. Without goals in the period, DPR Korea claimed the bronze medals with 3-0 victory over China II.
