Olympic qualifier in Hanover

Deutschland Cup moves to Mannheim and Frankfurt

MUNICH – The German ice hockey association announced that its final men’s Olympic qualification group will be played in Hanover.

On February 5-8, Germany will face Slovenia, Austria and a qualifier from the pre-qualification tournament in the 10,500-seat TUI Arena in Hanover. The arena was one of the venues of the 2001 IIHF World Championship.

Germany also announced that its four-nation Deutschland Cup will not be held in Hanover as in the past years, but in Mannheim and Frankfurt. Germany will play Canada, Slovakia and Switzerland November 7-9, 2008.
