ZURICH – A five-day Champions Hockey League transfer period (“window”) opens on Thursday, October 30. The twelve CHL teams can register two (2) new players for the purpose of Champions Hockey League participation. The transfer period ends on November 3, at midnight CET.
Each team can register two new players for the purpose of Champions Hockey League participation during the transfer period. Any players who where signed after September 30 (players who consequently were not the club's initial 40 (25 + 15) man team entry long list) must be registered for CHL participation between October 30 and November 3. These additions will count against the limit of two new players.
By way of example: If HV71 Jönköping adds Kris Beech - who joined HV71 on October 10 to its CHL Team Entry Long List, he will be counted against the limit of two new players. So if Kris Beech is added by HV71 to the CHL Team Entry Long List, the club has room for one additional player for CHL participation.
By way of another example: If Mountfield Ceske Budejovice adds players Richard Jares and Vitezlav Bilek (both acquired on October 13-14) to its CHL Team Entry Long List, that means that the club has already filled its quota of two new players for CHL participation.
After November 3, no more changes can be made to the clubs’ Champions Hockey League rosters. The rosters that the clubs register with the IIHF as of this deadline are final for the remainder of the 2008-2009 Champions Hockey League season. The new Team Entry Lists (maximum 40 players) must be registered with the IIHF on November 4.
NOTE: A player cannot compete for two Champions Hockey League teams in one season. There are no nationality restrictions as far as player eligibility is concerned in the Champions Hockey League.
