ZURICH – The International Ice Hockey Federation has nominated 353 referees and linesmen for 27 events in the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship program.
The male and female on-ice officials come from 39 different countries.
The assignments for all events have been finalized except for the 2014 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Minsk, Belarus, where a long list has been published and the final selection will be known in March.

For the Olympic Winter Games the final selection of the referees and linesmen in the men’s and women’s ice hockey tournaments will be announced in December. Same as in the last Olympics, on-ice officials for the Olympic men’s ice hockey tournament will be selected from both the IIHF’s and the NHL’s pool of referees and linesmen.

IIHF officials attended a camp in the off-season hoping to make the cut for Sochi 2014.
The IIHF will also nominate on-ice officials for the Continental Cup, the European Women’s Champions Cup, the Challenge Cup of Asia and the 2014 IIHF Inline Hockey World Championship.
Since 2004 the IIHF operates a Referee Exchange Program in Europe with seven of its member national associations. The program includes three officials from each of the countries travelling between the top European leagues to call games abroad.

On Tuesday the IIHF also published the list of IIHF-licensed on-ice officials for the 2013/2014 season which includes 437 referees and 624 linesmen from 47 countries who have an A, B or C licence.
