The 2017 IIHF Women’s World Ranking has been released following the completion of the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship program, which included 37 women’s national teams competing in six tiers.

Unsurprisingly the United States remain on top of the ranking after winning the 2017 IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship on home ice in Plymouth, Michigan, and are followed by Canada. The top-six spots in the ranking remained the same like last year with Finland in third place followed by Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.

After the great showing in Plymouth, Germany moved up one position and is now seventh. Also the Czech Republic improved one spot to eighth while Japan fell from seventh to ninth place. Austria follows behind and made the top-10 for the first time in women’s hockey history.

The World Ranking takes into account the performances during the Women’s Worlds and Olympics of the last four years.
