MUNICH – Since Friday morning at 9:00, tickets for the 2010 IIHF World Championship are on sale and the response on this first day exceeded all expectations.
Within the first six hours, already 15,000 tickets for the opening game in the VELTINS-Arena of Schalke in Gelsenkirchen were sold. People formed long queues in front of the ticket shops; call centre and internet server were even partly congested.
"We did expect high demand on the first day, but what we experienced today, was exceeding all our expectations. At noon we decided to enhance the capacities on all our sales channels," says Thomas Freyer, responsible for tickets sales in the 2010 World Championship Organizing Committee. Freyer also expressed his excitement about the remarkable demand for package offers featuring the games in Cologne and Mannheim.
Thus, 462 days before the first face-off, already 20 percent of the tickets for the opening game are gone or in other words: only 60.000 Ticket to go until the world record. This definitely means to get going for tickets!
