With still 350 days to go until the first face-off, the second stage of ticket sales for the 2010 IIHF World Championship will start on May 22, 2009. In this stage, the final game schedule is not confirmed yet, but teams are now allocated to their groups and venues.
Thus, preliminary round tickets for a certain group/team (starting at € 62,50) as well as qualification/relegation round tickets for a certain venue (starting at €125,50) and a first contingent of final round tickets (starting at € 189,50) are now also on offer.
Packages for Preliminary Round Group D with the German team can be purchased with or without the opening game Germany vs. USA in Gelsenkirchen's "VELTINS-Arena". Currently some 5,000 tickets for the opening game are still available within various package offers. The original single ticket contingent of some 60,000 tickets is sold out. Since the start of ticket sales in January 2009, a total of over 70,000 tickets could already be sold for the 2010

The 2010 IIHF World Championship takes places from May 7 until May 23, 2010 in the "LANXESS arena" in Cologne, the "SAP Arena" in Mannheim and the "VELTINS-Arena" in Gelsenkirchen. The Organizing Committee headed by President Uwe Harnos and General Secretary Franz Reindl, is awaiting 500.000 spectators at 56 World Championship games of the world's 16 best Ice Hockey nations. App. 1.000 accredited journalists as well as around 190 involved TV stations will broadcast from Germany into more than 100 countries. Some 800 million viewers worldwide will follow the 2010 IIHF World Championship on TV. The 16 teams will play in the following groups and venues:
Group A/Cologne: Russia, Belarus, Slovakia, Kazakhstan
Group B/Mannheim: Canada, Switzerland, Latvia, Italy
Group C/Mannheim: Sweden, Czech Republic, Norway, France
Group D/Cologne, Gelsenkirchen: Finland, USA, Germany, Denmark
