A new practice rink is being built in Košice, to be situated next to the Steel Arena which will host the 2011 IIHF World Championship in Bratislava and Košice, Slovakia. The capacity will be around 300 seats. The rink will also be able to host various smaller events, as it can gather 2,000 people overall. “The practice rink will have 8 rooms for teams and 40 parking lots,” said Mr. Pavol Miskov, representative of Košická aréna organization.
The rink should be completed by December 2010, and in March 2011 it should be ready for use. The project is financed by U.S. Steel Košice, the City of Košice and the Slovak government. The total budget is 5.5m Euro. This will not be the only investment. The nearby Steel Arena should get receive lights, acoustics, buffets and a restaurant.
