BRATISLAVA – The Czech Republic added defenceman Zbynek Michalek and forward Tomas Plekanec to their team. The registration of the duo also fills the last remaining rosters spots for skaters. The Czech Republic can still add a goaltender before the end of the Qualification Round.
Michalek, 28, scored 5+14=19 points in his 72 games with the Pittsburgh Penguins this season. Plekanec, 28, in turn, scored 22 goals and added 35 assists in his 77 regular season games with the Montreal Canadiens. He also scored five points in the seven post-season games.
Both players have arrived in Bratislava and are expected to play in the Czech Republic’s game against Denmark on Monday.
