STOCKHOLM/HELSINKI – Russian star Alexander Ovechkin, who arrived yesterday (see
separate story), has been cleared to play today while Switzerland registered Thibaut Monnet before today’s quarter-finals.
With the addition of Ovechkin, Russia has now a full roster prior to the game against the United States.
Switzerland registered Thibaut Monnet as 22nd and last skater. The forward of the ZSC Lions Zurich has already been practising with the team from the beginning. With Monnet’s selection, Dario Bürgler, another forward, cannot be registered anymore.
Switzerland has one open spot for a goalkeeper on the roster. With Tobias Stephan the Swiss have a third goalkeeper in Stockholm who hasn’t been registered yet.
