The Slovak national team now has its own anthem. The anthem was recorded by Gladiator and 35 days before the start of the Championship it was presented to listeners for the first time. After the official World Championship, Slovakia (29.4.-15.5.2011) anthem sung by Kristina, this is the second song written for hockey fans.
Rock music is something inseparable from Slovak hockey and that’s why Gladiator recorded the song titled Slovensko – Hokejová republika (Slovakia – the hockey republic). The song was aired exclusively on Fun Radio on Friday the 25th of March 2011. Fun Radio is a Championship media partner. The lyrics were written by drummer, composer and lyricist all in one Georgio Babulic who also composed the music along with singer Miko Hladký under the banner of Universal Music.
“We hope this song brings joy to everyone who was expecting a manly, rocky anthem sung in Slovak.” stated WM Chairman Igor Nemeček.
The team anthem is rocky with an amazingly catchy chorus which everybody already knows. It’s the real deal hockey-wise and is sure to fire up all Slovak hockey fans. The Gladiator anthem can be heard on our official website.
