MOSCOW – The Russian Hockey Federation produced a stamp in honour of the Russian national team that won the 2008 World Championship in Quebec City, Canada.
The stamp, worth eight Rubles, can be bought in any post office in Russia. It shows the IIHF World Championship trophy and the silhouette and jersey of an unspecified player who represents the entire team that won gold for Russia for the first time in 15 years.
“The victory of our team at the 2008 World Championship is important to all of us and gave pride to the national team’s fans,” said Russian Federation representative Olga Ivanova. “This success merited special attention and we think we found the best commemorative item with a stamp that can be bought even in the remotest corners of Russia.”
