IIHF twitters the Worlds

Switzerland 2009 a breakthrough for up-to-the-second reporting

24-04-09
Back

The 2009 World Championship in Bern and Zurich-Kloten marks the debut of the IIHF in the world of Twitter. The latest method of quick communication has been embraced by athletes, movie stars, and even politicians around the world, and now international hockey has joined in the fun. The writers covering the event, as well as other IIHF staff, will provide instant news on anything big or small that they find interesting. The only Twitter rule is that it has to be done in 140 characters or less. Perhaps it’s a quick description of a great scoring chance that wouldn’t make it into a game report, or an observation walking around the arena on the way to a game, but anything that catches the eye of the IIHF will be given the Twitter treatment. All of the important World Championship news will always be on www.IIHF.com, of course, but now the minutiae will be available by visiting our Twitter account—“IIHFHockey”.
