COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - USA Hockey announced its first 12 players, all from the NHL, that will play at the IIHF World Championship, May 7-23, in Germany.
Highlighting the roster are two members of the 2009 U.S. Men's National Team, goaltender Scott Clemmensen and forward Kyle Okposo. The pair helped lead Team USA to a fourth-place finish at last year's World Championship.
Three other members of Team USA have experience at various IIHF World Championships, including defenseman Taylor Chorney, who was a two-time U20 player (2006, 2007) and on the gold medal-winning 2005 U18 team. Other Team USA veterans include Eric Nystrom, who played on two U20 teams (2002, 2003) and the 2001 U18 Team; and 2008 U.S. Men's player Brandon Dubinsky.
Seven players will be making their Team USA debut including defensemen Matt Gilroy, Jack Hillen and Mike Lundin); forwards Ryan Carter, Christian Hanson, David Moss and Ryan Potulny.
