MUNICH – German’s national team coach Uwe Krupp is currently touring through the German DEL to scout players for the upcoming Final Olympic Qualification. His preliminary roster now includes a new name coming from the second-tier team Tölzer Löwen.

Travis-James Mulock is one of four North American-born players on the 33-man preliminary roster of the German national team and the only one who has yet to play in a German jersey.

Mulock is the second-best scorer of his team in the second Bundesliga with 21 goals and 31 assists in 38 games.

After a junior career in Canada including three seasons in the Western Hockey League, Mulock went to Germany in 2006 as a 21-year-old.

He began in Ratingen in the third-tier Oberliga before the team filed for bankruptcy and then moved to Bad Tölz in the same league. In his second season, the team won the league and earned promotion to the second Bundesliga.

Since he has a German passport, his agent is busy fielding offers from DEL clubs. And now, Krupp can be added to the list of those hoping to land the British Columbia native.

“He’s a player who could possibly boost our team for the Olympic Qualification,” Krupp says. “He’s having a great season and deserved the nomination to the preliminary roster. The qualification to the Olympic Winter Games is extremely important for us.”

The roster will be reduced to 23 players before the tournament in Hanover, February 5-8, 2009. Other tournaments of the Final Olympic Qualification will be hosted in Riga, Latvia, and Oslo, Norway.
