QUEBEC CITY – The management of the Swiss national team has announced that defenceman Mathias Seger and forward Peter Guggisberg will be registered for the qualification round after the 4-2 upset over Sweden.

Seger will play his tenth World Championship. He has been part of every World Championship with Team Switzerland since 1998 expect last year after a weak season. This time, he made the roster after a great year with Swiss champion ZSC Lions. Seger as well as debutant Guggisberg of HC Davos were already part of the training camp roster.

For another World Championship rookie, Roman Wick, the game against Sweden ended with a concussion after a check from behind by Niclas Wallin, who got a match penalty. It’s unclear yet for how long Wick will be sidelined.
