HALIFAX/QUEBEC CITY – The rosters at the 2008 IIHF World Championship continued to take shape as teams made numerous additions prior to their first games.

CZECH REPUBLIC: The Czechs bolstered their roster today with the addition of Colorado Avalanche forward Jaroslav Hlinka.

FINLAND: Finland added just one player yesterday. Joining the team is Mikko Jokela from Jokerit Helsinki.

GERMANY: Germany also added five players. Boston Bruin forward Marco Sturm is the highlight of the additions. Joining him in today's game against Finland is Florian Busch and Stefan Ustdorf from the DEL's Berlin Eisbaren, Petr Fical of the Nurnberg Ice Tigers and Andres Renz who plays for Kolner Haie.

SLOVAKIA: Highlighting the five roster additions is Florida Panthers defenseman Branislav Mezei. Also added were defenseman Dominik Granak, who plays in the Swedish league with Farjestad; Andrej Podkonicky from Liberec in the Czech Republic’s top league; Peter Fabus from Plzen in the Czech league and Peter Huzevka who plays in Slovakia with Dukla Trencin.

SWITZERLAND: The Swiss added four skaters today, all based in the Swiss A League. New to the roster are Sandy Jeannin of Lugano, Romano Lemm of Kloten, Philippe Furrer of Bern and Raphael Diaz of Zug. Captain Ivo Ruthemann travelled back home due to an injury.

Note: Up 20 skaters and 3 goaltenders per team can be registred for the preliminary round. From the start of the Qualification Round and Relegation Round on May 8 (and until two hours before any of the following games), the teams are entitled to add two additional players (skaters or goalkeepers) to their roster.
