290 days before the first face-off and earlier than ever before thanks to a thorough preparation of the Organizing Committee, the official game schedule for the 2010 IIHF World Championship was approved by the Council of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF).
Thus, those interested in tickets can already now make their choice based on the actual championship schedule. A total of 56 games of the 16 world's best hockey nations will be played in Germany between May 7 and May 23, 2010. Out of those, 29 games including the semi-finals as well as the gold- and bronze-final will be played in Cologne, a further 26 games including two quarter-finals will take place in Mannheim and Gelsenkirchen will host the world record opening game with almost 76.000 spectators on May 7, 2010.
With the second ticket sales stage running, preliminary round tickets for a certain group/team (starting at € 62,50) as well as qualification/relegation round tickets for a certain venue (starting at €125,50) and a first contingent of final round tickets (starting at € 189,50) are presently on offer. A total of nearly 90,000 tickets could already be sold. Naturally strongly requested are the games of group D, which includes the games of the German team, as well as the entire final round. However, tickets are currently still available in all categories. Some remaining tickets for the opening game can also still be purchased within various package offers.
