Canada vs. Finland 3-2 (1-0, 0-2, 2-0)

Canada squeaks past Finland with a 3-2 win at the IIHF Twelve Nations Invitational Tournament Series in Vierumäki, Finland.

Canada opened the scoring with a power play goal by defender Bobbi-Jo Slusar and kept the lead for the remainder of the first stanza. However, Finland managed to score two unanswered goals.

The first one happened on a power play, followed by a goal coming out from a 2-on-1 rush. Although playing in an unfamiliar situation, Canada did not sit back and came hard at the Finns in the second period.  A couple of close calls kept the Canadians from equalizing the score.

It was not until the third period when Canada found the back of the Finns. Meghan Agosta finished off a feed by Jayna Hefford from behind the net. Canada eventually regained the lead late in the third period.  Jennifer Wakefield scored what would turn out to be the game winning goal.
