Finland vs. USA 0-6 (0-3, 0-2, 0-1)

USA dominated against Finnish hosts

The first period, started off with good battles from both sides. Both were creating good scoring opportunities. Team USA was able to rise above, capitalizing on three of the many opportunities, ending the first period Finland 0 – USA 3.

Coming into the second period, Finland came out with a vengeance to regain control of the game, playing good heads up hockey, with crisp passes, and both teams continued to battle. By the end of the period, the score was Finland 0 – USA 5.

The third period was a great example of how the game should be played.  Both teams were connecting passes, battling it out in the corners, and even a few checks of frustration were delivered in open ice.  By the end the Finnish goaltender Anna Vanhatalo and USA forward Brianna Decker were named best players.  The Final Score was Finland 0 – USA 6.
