Slovakia’s first win of the tournament was a clear 4-0 victory over Japan. The Asians started strong in the first period with several good scoring chances, but failed to capitalize on their opportunities. The only goal of the first period game from the Slovaks.
 
Japan continued to play well in the second period, but just as in the first period, Slovak goalie Tomcikova stopped everything they shot at her. The second period ended with Slovakia leading 3-0.

Slovakia scored early in the third period, prompting Japan to change their goalie. The period continued with Japan again dominating most of the scoring chances, but once again Tomcikova turned everything aside, resulting in a 4-0 win for Slovakia.
